PUPPY SPORTS SCHOOL

Do you have a puppy who wants to play sports like agility or flyball?

Like our extremely popular Puppy Day School program, puppies in Sports School will spend Tuesdays and Thursdays with us for socialization and training. However, this program is tailored for the future athlete and includes things like: drive building, toy skills, body awareness, crating, marker cues, socialization, confidence and more! If they stay in the program, as they get older, they will even learn the sport specific skills for your sport of choice! This can include skills like agility obstacles, weave poles, and flyball box turns.

What will my puppy learn at school?

Throughout this program, dogs will learn foundation skills needed to help them grow up to become a successful athlete, and well rounded, confident dog.

As in Puppy Day School, your puppy spends the day playing, socializing, and learning. Alongside dedicated one-on-one training sessions, lessons are seamlessly woven into every part of the day—so your puppy is learning all the time, not just during formal training.

All puppies work on foundation skills such as:

  • Confidence around dogs, people, and new environments

  • Focus around distractions

  • Confidence with surfaces and things that move.

  • Confidence with noises

  • Setting a foundation for a great sports working relationship

  • Quiet crate behavior

  • Building joy for training!

As puppies are ready for more, training focuses on skills such as:

  • Toy Skills - engagement, retrieve, impulse control, "ready set" game etc.

  • Body Awareness - pivot, in a box, 4 feet on, rear foot target, back up

  • Marker Cues

  • Other Training Skills - restrained recalls, choose to heel, ring entry skills

  • Sports Specific Skills - contact behavior, dog walk, teeter, weaves, flyball box etc.

Once a puppy has completed at least two months of school, they are eligible for once a week school, or drop in school days.

After that, you can continue your puppy’s progress with ongoing packages. To continue beyond 1 year, speak with your trainer

What puppies are eligible?

In order to provide the best experience for our puppies, we only accept dogs up to 4 months at their initial enrollment.

If you and your puppy wish to continue beyond 1 year, speak with your trainer! Depending on enrollment and training needs we can often extend school for dogs beyond 1 year so long as they start before 4 months old.

Ready to enroll? The first step is to schedule an online puppy evaluation. This helps us make sure the program is the perfect fit—and gives us a chance to learn more about your sports goals for your puppy.
